فقيل له: أيؤدب الإنسان نفسه بغير مؤدِّب؟
فأجاب: كيف لا، كنتُ إذا رأيت في غيري حسناً تبنيته، وإن رأيت قبيحًا أبيته، بهذا أدّبتُ نفسي.
